Virtual coffee breaks
Working at home for long periods can make us feel isolated, we are usually about to chat to colleagues about what is going on either workwise or in our home lives. Please do make time to have a virtual coffee break. Invite a work colleague to a short skype meeting while you have a break and drink.
We know these times are going to make people feel many different emotions, whether that’s feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or uncertain. It's important to remember it is OK to feel this way and that everyone reacts differently to different experiences and situations. There are many other ways we can help ourselves through these uncertain times. Our Public Health Team have produced a summary of helpful resources and links to a range of practical tips, advice and support. Please see attached document which will also be available on the staff intranet.
A collection of staff FAQs are available on the Intranet (http://staff.shropshire.gov.uk/how-do-i/your-health-and-wellbeing/coronavirus-faqs/), and public and service-specific information is available on the website (https://www.shropshire.gov.uk/coronavirus). Both are updated regularly, so please make these the first places you look to find the answer you need. By doing so you will free up officer time to focus on our efforts to support the most vulnerable in the community.
Given the current pressures across the organisation, Directors have decided that recruitment activity should be suspended. This is because logistically it is difficult to do. Where job offers have been made, and or where start dates are now in place, this can continue, but no new recruitment activity should be started. There are exceptions for business critical roles needed that are essential to front line service delivery, which cannot be fulfilled by other means.
If this presents managers with particular problems, they should discuss with their relevant director who can approve recruitment to specific posts on a case by case basis.
